Focusing on what matters

So I started this blog two years ago thinking that I could dedicate the time to sit and write at least one or two articles a week. I had no real focus at all and I think that is where the problem lies. So, here is my focus starting today (well… other than a few mindless rants here and there).

Are you ready??

I want to write about my spiritual walk with God as I read through different books of the Bible. Okay, okay I know. Stop rolling your eyes and give me a chance. It just might surprise you. Many people see religion and spirituality with either rules/restrictions and crazy/extreme people (I don’t have to give you examples, I’m sure you are listing off a few in your head).

But either way (okay maybe not either way… crazy extreme isn’t my style), I think it is important to realize that a lot of these instructions are so that you can live better and fuller lives (BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE… I kid :-P it sounded like an infomercial, okay back to the real stuff *cough*). If you choose not to follow them, recognize that you may or may not have to go through things that might not be very pleasant. Of course on the flip side, there are so many variable in every persons life that even if you do live a “perfect” life you are bound to go through things that are the result of some other person’s bad choice.

Through my ramblings in this blog, I want to show you what Christianity means to me. If you get bored don’t follow, if you don’t well then enjoy ;)

Love, Peace and Afro Grease :)

New Local Ads and Searches – Good or Bad??

Geo IP positions predicts your location
Geo IP location

So, i usually don’t like clicking on ads, but this one caught my eye. See, this ad claims that the writer is from my town. For a second I was like “Wow, MSN is pulling local advertiser’s ads into my search. Neat!” Then, I got suspicious. (I have curiosity issues. “Because it just is” is not an answer!) I took my handy pointer, shift selected my town’s name and clicked on view selection source (Firefox feature). And here is what I found:

<script src="http://j.maxmind.com/app/geoip.js">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
document.write(geoip_city());
// -->
</script>Valley Cottage,

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
document.write(geoip_region());
// -->
</script>
NY

So, what does this do? It takes your computer or internet service providers unique IP address, sends it to another site and finds out where your computer is located. It then writes you city, and region into the ad. Now, granted, they wanted to get my attention and they got it. But, isn’t this a false claim? Don’t companies get in trouble for this??

Allyson Johnson is not from Valley Cottage, and even if she did have a story to tell…
